Despite a Decline, Apple Remains the Second Most Valuable Company Globally as of April 2024

Data from Companies Market Cap shows that the market capitalization of tech giant Apple Inc. reached US$2.59 trillion today, Thursday (April 18, 2024).

This figure places the iPhone maker as the second-largest company in the world, after Microsoft, which holds a market cap of US$3.06 trillion.

According to Databoks' observations, Apple's market value has fallen from January 2024, when it reached US$2.87 trillion. At that time, Apple was overtaken by Microsoft as the world's most valuable company.

On an annual average, the market value in the latest 2024 data has also dropped from 2023's US$2.99 trillion. The average value in 2022 was US$2.06 trillion.

The 2022 figure is down from the average market capitalization of US$2.9 trillion in 2021. In 2020, the average market capitalization was US$2.25 trillion.

These years represent a golden age for Apple, as its market capitalization exceeded US$2 trillion. Before 2020, its market capitalization was below US$1.2 trillion, as shown in the graph.

Apple remains a hot topic in Indonesia after the company's CEO, Tim Cook, met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The purpose of his visit was to announce plans for a fourth Apple Developer Academy in Bali.

They have invested a total of Rp1.6 trillion since establishing the Apple Developer Academy in 2018.

"The investment for the three Apple Developer Academies was Rp1.2 trillion. With the addition of one more in Bali, it becomes Rp1.6 trillion," said the Minister of Communication and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi, to Katadata on Wednesday (April 17, 2024).

Apple Developer Academies in Indonesia are located in four areas: Bina Nusantara (Binus) BSD, Tangerang; Ciputra University in Surabaya; Infinite Learning in Batam; and Bali.

Budi also discussed the potential for establishing an Apple Store in Indonesia. He stated that Apple is still considering it.

"Other matters are under consideration. But in terms of commitment and seriousness, they hope that Indonesia will be involved in further production and development processes," said Budi.
