The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) reported its indicative budget for 2025 at Rp75.63 trillion.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono explained that this figure is significantly lower than the ministry's required budget of Rp212.58 trillion for the following year.
“Why is the 2025 budget only Rp75 trillion? Information from Bappenas indicates that this is specifically allocated for the new government, thus providing room for the incoming administration,” said Basuki in a working meeting with Commission V of the DPR (House of Representatives) on Thursday (6/6/2024).
Although the indicative 2025 budget is smaller than its needs, Basuki ensured that it will not affect ongoing infrastructure projects because the work is carried out under multi-year contracts (MYC).
By sector, the Directorate General of Bina Marga will receive the largest allocation, namely Rp32.31 trillion in 2025. This budget will be used for road and bridge construction, improved flyover/underpass accessibility, toll road connectivity, and support for the development of the new capital city (IKN).
Next, the Directorate General of Water Resources will receive a budget of Rp26.53 trillion. The funds will be used for the construction of 12 dams, irrigation development covering 2,000 hectares (ha), rehabilitation and improvement of irrigation covering 15,000 ha, development of raw water infrastructure, Sidoarjo mud mitigation, land acquisition, and other management and technical support.
Then, the Directorate General of Cipta Karya will be allocated Rp10.48 trillion. This will be channeled for the construction and improvement of drinking water supply systems, sanitation, development of residential areas, building construction, and rehabilitation and renovation of school buildings.
Furthermore, the Directorate General of Housing will receive Rp4.53 trillion, which will be used to build apartment buildings, self-help houses, special houses, and public and commercial housing.
Finally, Rp1.77 trillion will be allocated for management support and other technical tasks.
