Trade War Eases, Rupiah Strengthens 0.92% in a Week

The Indonesian Rupiah strengthened by 0.92% against the US dollar in the spot market over the past week, reaching Rp 13,965 on Friday (September 13th). This strengthening was supported by news of easing trade tensions between China and the US.

As reported by *Investing.com*, the Chinese government is encouraging domestic companies to purchase US agricultural products, such as soybeans and pork. These products will not be subject to additional import tariffs. This indicates that China is softening its stance towards the US. Conversely, China also hopes the US will reciprocate with similar measures for Chinese products.

The Rupiah closed at Rp 14,095 per US dollar on the previous Friday (September 6th). It strengthened by 0.47% to Rp 14,029 per US dollar on Monday (September 9th) before weakening for two consecutive days. Since Thursday (September 12th), the Rupiah has strengthened again, reaching Rp 14,060 before breaking below Rp 14,000 by the end of the week.
