The national average price of chilies continued to rise until Tuesday (February 9th) at 1:00 PM WIB. Only the price of red chili peppers decreased by 0.41%. However, the price of this commodity still reached Rp73,150 per kilogram, making it the highest among other types of chilies.
Meanwhile, curly red chilies, large red chilies, and green chilies are still experiencing price increases. Green chilies are sold at Rp64,300 per kilogram, an increase of Rp1,650 compared to the previous day. The price of curly red chilies is offered at Rp52,750 per kilogram, up 0.57% from yesterday. Large red chilies increased by 1.98% to Rp51,450 per kilogram.
The increase in chili prices is suspected to be due to the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration on Friday (February 12th), quoting from CNN Indonesia. Central Kalimantan is the region with the highest price of red chilies, reaching Rp75,650 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of chili peppers in West Kalimantan reached Rp103,150 per kilogram until Monday (February 8th).
