The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed down 40.62 points, or 0.59%, to 6,859.91 on Friday (August 18, 2023), continuing the weakening trend that began on Wednesday (August 16, 2023).

A total of 18.47 billion shares changed hands, with a transaction value of Rp 11.32 trillion.

The issuer with the code VTNY was the top loser today after weakening by 14.5%, followed by TRON and PPRI, which contracted by 13.68% and 13.33%, respectively.

On the other hand, the top gainer today was HUMI, which strengthened by 31%, followed by issuers BPTR and ERTX, which strengthened by 15.97% and 15.92%, respectively.

The majority of stock indices closed weaker today. Specifically, 327 stocks weakened, 222 stocks were stagnant, and 193 stocks strengthened.

Regional Asian stock exchanges also recorded declines this afternoon. The Nikkei Index weakened by 0.55% to 31,450.801, the Hang Seng Index weakened by 2.05% to 17,950.85, the Shanghai Index weakened by 1.00% to 3,131.95, and the Straits Times Index weakened by 0.71% to 3,173.93.
