Data compiled by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) shows that 886.06 billion shares were traded on the Indonesian stock exchange in September 2025.
This volume increased by 15.19% from August 2025 (month-on-month/mom), which recorded 751.83 billion shares. The number of shares traded in September 2025 also surged by 77.71% from last year (year-on-year/yoy), which was 487.34 billion shares.
Over the past year, share transactions on the Indonesian stock exchange have consistently increased for five months, specifically from May to September 2025.
IDX also noted that the trading frequency on the stock exchange during September 2025 reached 46.58 million times. This frequency strengthened by 10.94% (mom) from 42 million times in August 2025 and by 91.04% (yoy) from 24.38 million times in September 2024.
Stock trading volume refers to the number of share lots traded by the market within a certain period, as quoted from Phillip Sekuritas Indonesia. A large volume indicates that the stock is highly sought after by investors or that it is liquid.
In line with this, IDX recorded that the stock transaction value in September 2025 also strengthened by 24.61% month-on-month compared to August 2025, from Rp404.73 trillion to Rp504.34 trillion.
The stock transaction value in September 2025 also skyrocketed year-on-year by 75.71% from Rp287.02 trillion in September 2024.
IDX also noted that Indonesia's stock market capitalization reached Rp14,890 trillion in September 2025, growing almost 5% (mom) from Rp14,182 trillion in August 2025.
