Following the long Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2025, the United States dollar (USD) strengthened against the Indonesian rupiah to 16,849 at the close of trading on Tuesday (April 8, 2025), according to Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR) data from Bank Indonesia (BI).

"So, the rupiah may move to 16,800 per US dollar at the beginning of trading and could close stronger at the end of trading today around 16,700 per US dollar," said Ariston in his morning prediction on Tuesday (April 8, 2025).

Analyst Lukman Leong of Doo Financial Futures also predicted that the rupiah would remain under pressure, particularly due to the large accumulated decline in the stock market during the holiday.

"Risk-off sentiment from the tariff war is still putting pressure on emerging market currencies in general," he said.
