Astra Group's Infrastructure and Logistics Sector Reports Losses

Astra International Tbk (ASII) is currently focusing on developing its subsidiaries in the infrastructure sector by becoming a player in the toll road business. Through its subsidiary, PT Astratel Nusantara, it has acquired all shares of PT Bhaskara Utama Sedaya, which owns 45 percent of the Cikopo-Palimanan toll road. In addition, Astratel also owns 95 percent of PT Marga Harjaya Infrastruktur, the operator of the Mojokerto-Jombang toll road, 79 percent of PT Marga Mandalasakti, the operator of the Tangerang-Merak toll road, and several other toll road management companies in various regions.

The performance of Astra group's subsidiaries in the manufacturing sector during January-September 2017 recorded a loss of Rp 66 billion, compared to a profit of Rp 213 billion in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the property and other sectors recorded profits. Subsidiaries in the automotive sector still dominate 46 percent of Astra group's profits.

Astra group's net revenue for the January-September 2017 period grew by 14 percent to Rp 150.23 trillion from Rp 132.29 trillion in the first nine months of the previous year. Similarly, the net profit of the Astra conglomerate also increased by 26 percent to Rp 14.18 trillion from Rp 11.28 trillion previously.
