Global Natural Gas Prices Traded at US$2.26 per Mmbtu This Afternoon (Monday, July 15, 2024)

Global natural gas prices fell on Monday, July 15, 2024. Trading today recorded US$2.26 per mmbtu, lower than the previous day's US$2.33 per mmbtu. This reflects the recent downward trend in global natural gas prices.

Over the past week, global natural gas prices have grown by -4.77 percent, with an average daily transaction price of US$2.32 per mmbtu. Compared to 30 days ago, global natural gas prices have grown by -12.79 percent. The highest trading value for global natural gas this year was US$3.31 per mmbtu, recorded on Friday, January 12, 2024.

The average annual global natural gas price has shown a downward trend over the past five years. Monthly transactions over the past 12 months have also generally declined. The highest average monthly price was recorded in October 2023 at US$3.14 per mmbtu.

Earlier news from early September 2022 reported that European gas prices soared after Russia shut down the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. Russia cited newly discovered damage as the reason for the shutdown. The price surge was attributed to market anticipation of gas shortages ahead of winter.
