A Katadata Insight Center (KIC) survey shows that 4% of respondents had already gone home ahead of schedule amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Students were the group most likely to have returned to their hometowns early. The largest wave of homecoming occurred when the government issued the #stayathome call.

This online survey was conducted on March 29-30, 2020. It involved 2,437 respondents spread across 34 provinces. Respondents were aged 17-29 years (37.8%), 30-40 years (30.3%), 41-50 years (24.0%), 51-60 years (6.7%), and over 60 years (1.2%). The majority of respondents (53%) were female.
