The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) recorded a 16.88% decrease in Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) sales in May 2019 compared to May 2018. May 2019 sales totaled 18,271 units, a decrease of 3,711 units compared to the previous period's 21,982 units.
This decline in LCGC sales was accompanied by an overall decrease in car sales. May 2019 saw 84,146 units sold, a 16.2% decrease or 16,374 fewer units compared to the previous period's 100,520 units.
The Astra Group still dominated sales, with Toyota selling 29,280 units and Daihatsu selling 14,178 units. Isuzu and Peugeot sales reached only 1,682 units and 7 units respectively. Meanwhile, among non-Astra groups, the highest sales were achieved by Mitsubishi with 11,761 units, followed by Honda with 11,048 units, Suzuki with 8,775 units, Nissan with 1,204 units, and other brands with 6,211 units.
