The competition at the top of the BRI Liga 1 2023/2024 standings is heating up as the first round draws to a close. The top three positions are occupied by Madura United, Borneo FC, and Persib Bandung, all of whom played their 17th-week matches on Saturday, October 28th, 2023.
At Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Bali, Madura United drew 1-1 with Arema FC.
Initially, Madura United took the lead with a goal from Lulinha in the 66th minute. However, Arema FC equalized with a penalty goal scored by Gustavo Almeida in the 78th minute.
Meanwhile, at Segiri Stadium in Samarinda, Borneo FC dominated, beating Dewa United 3-1.
The victory for the club nicknamed Pesut Etam was secured by Stefano Lilipaly, who scored a hat-trick in the 24th (penalty), 61st, and 75th minutes. Dewa United only managed to score one goal through Septian Bagaskara in the 90+1st minute.
At the same time, Persib Bandung successfully defeated PSS Sleman 4-1. An own goal by PSS defender, Thales Lira, in the 3rd minute started the goal fest for Maung Bandung.
Three more goals were scored by David Da Silva in the 21st minute, Frets Butuan in the 70th minute, and Beckham Putra Nugraha in the 77th minute.
Thus, Bojak Hodak managed to maintain Persib's positive trend as an undefeated club in BRI Liga 1 2023/24 for 10 consecutive matches.
The victory over PSS Sleman also propelled Maung Bandung to second place in the Liga 1 2023/24 standings with 31 points, tied with Madura United, which also has 31 points.
Borneo FC still holds the top position with 35 points from 17 matches.
Meanwhile, the relegation zone currently consists of Arema FC (14 points), Persikabo 1973 (11 points), and Bhayangkara FC (7 points).
