The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reports on the development of pension funds and participants from mandatory and voluntary pension programs in Indonesia.
In the mandatory pension program, the total contributions collected amounted to Rp46.8 trillion in May 2025. This figure grew by 6.21% year-on-year (yoy).
Compared month-on-month (mom), the May 2025 figure surged by 25.43% from April 2025, which was Rp37.31 trillion.
OJK recorded 23.47 million mandatory pension participants in May 2025. This figure decreased by 0.88% (mom) from April 2025, which was 23.68 million.
According to OJK, the value of mandatory pension program contributions is calculated based on pension contributions from JHT participant workers and employer contributions. Meanwhile, mandatory pension fund participants are counted based on the number of JHT Taspen, JHT Asabri, and JHT BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants.
Turning to voluntary pensions, the total contributions collected amounted to Rp15.16 trillion in May 2025. This value grew by 1.92% (yoy).
Compared to the previous month, May 2025 contributions soared by 29.57% (mom) from April 2025, which was Rp11.7 trillion.
In contrast to the findings for mandatory pension participants, voluntary pension participation grew slightly, by 0.93%. Specifically, the number of participants increased from 5.33 million in April 2025 to 5.38 million in May 2025.
The voluntary pension program includes Employer Pension Funds (DPPK) Defined Benefit Plans (PPMP), DPPK Defined Contribution Plans (PPIP), and Financial Institution Pension Funds (DPLK).
In total, OJK calculated the total assets of pension programs collected to be Rp1,572.15 trillion in May 2025. This represents a 9.2% (yoy) growth. The total number of participants in all programs was 28.84 million in May 2025.
