The Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) released the latest results of the National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) on Friday, May 2, 2025.
The results show that the index of financial literacy and inclusion of the Indonesian people in 2025 increased compared to the previous year.
The financial literacy index measures the knowledge, skills, beliefs, attitudes, and behavior of the public in financial management.
Then, the financial inclusion index measures the level of access to and use of products/services from financial institutions.
This year's SNLIK presents two types of financial literacy and inclusion indices. First, the index based on the sustainability method from 2024. Second, the index according to the new method from the National Inclusive Finance Council (DNKI).
In the sustainability method, similar to 2024, the survey relates to banking, capital markets, insurance, financing institutions, pension funds, pawn shops, microfinance institutions, fintech lending, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani, and payment system providers (PSP).
Meanwhile, in the DNKI method newly implemented this year, the survey is expanded to include literacy and inclusion related to BPJS Kesehatan (National Health Insurance), BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (National Employment Insurance), and other financial service institutions, such as savings and loan cooperatives, crypto assets, and others.
Based on the sustainability method, the national financial literacy index in 2025 reached 66.46%, up from 65.43% the previous year.
Similarly, the financial inclusion index in 2025 increased to 80.51%, from 75.02% the previous year.
Then, using the DNKI method, the public's financial literacy index in 2025 reached 66.64% and the financial inclusion index reached 92.74%.
The sampling of households for this year's SNLIK was conducted from January 22 to February 11, 2025, in 34 provinces, covering 120 cities/regencies, including 8 OJK regional offices (1,080 census blocks).
The number of respondents in the 2025 SNLIK was 10,800 people aged 15 to 79 years.
