Early this year, many experts expressed pessimism regarding job growth in Indonesia.

This is evident in a report by the Institute for Economic and Community Research, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (LPEM FEB UI), titled *LPEM Economic Experts Survey Semester I 2025*.

In February 2025, LPEM surveyed 42 economic experts from various backgrounds, including academics, research institutions, think tanks, the private sector, and multinational organizations.

These respondents represented both domestic and international perspectives, hailing from West Java, Jakarta, West Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan, East Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, as well as Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

One of the survey's findings revealed that 14 experts assessed Indonesia's labor market conditions in the next three months as worsening, while 10 experts considered the situation significantly worse.

Combined, the proportion of experts with a negative assessment reached 57% of the total respondents.

"Experts stated that the current labor market is deteriorating, indicating a low availability of jobs for the public," according to the LPEM report.

"Experts also predict that the labor market will continue to worsen in the following period, failing to boost confidence among job seekers," it continued.

On the other hand, 13 experts predicted no change in job prospects in the coming months, and only 5 experts believed conditions would improve.
