Recent 4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Pangandaran Regency

A 4.3 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Pangandaran Regency. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was located 78 km southwest of Pangandaran Regency, and this earthquake was felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote the BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website on December 13, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 10:35:55. It had a depth of 29.0 kilometers and posed no tsunami threat. The earthquake's coordinates were 8.12°S (South Latitude) and 107.93°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in Tasikmalaya with a scale of II-III. The felt MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and window panes vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded six significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the last week, varying in magnitude and depth.
