Earthquake Today, January 22, 2024, Strikes Malang Regency

A 4.4 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Malang Regency. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was 55 km southwest of Malang Regency, and this earthquake is felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote the BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, January 22, 2024.

The earthquake occurred at 08:19:59. It was located at a depth of 129.0 kilometers and posed no tsunami threat. The earthquake's coordinates were 8.60 LS (South Latitude) and 112.38 BT (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in Trenggalek at intensity II. An MMI scale of II means the earthquake was not felt or was felt only by a few people but was recorded by instruments.
