21 hotspots detected in Indonesia in the last 24 hours (Monday, March 11, 2024)

Based on the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry's (KLHK) SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system, the last 24-hour monitoring shows 21 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This is a decrease of 55 hotspots compared to the previous period.

This data is the result of satellite imagery from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA accessed on Monday (11/3/2024) at 08.47 WIB. Of the 21 hotspots detected, 19 are medium scale and 2 are low scale.

The hotspot confidence level is divided into 3 scales. The low scale has a range of 0-29, the medium scale 30-79, and the high scale 80-100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires in a particular area.

The highest number of detected hotspots is in North Kalimantan with 10 hotspots. Riau Islands is in second place with 3 hotspots. North Sumatra is in third place with 2 hotspots.

Two hotspots were detected in South Kalimantan, followed by Banten with 1 hotspot, and Gorontalo and Lampung each having 1 hotspot detected.

Hotspots are coordinate points of an area with a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in one area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective method for monitoring forest and land fires over large areas.
