Heavy rain that lashed DKI Jakarta since Thursday afternoon (January 4, 2024) caused flooding in several areas. According to data from the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), 19 neighborhood units (RT) were still flooded as of 6:00 AM on Friday (January 5, 2024).
However, Head of DKI BPBD Isnawa stated that the number of flood-affected areas in the capital has receded since last night.
"Previously (the flood-affected areas) were in 21 RTs and two road sections. Now it's down to 19 RTs out of (a total of) 30,772 RTs in Jakarta," said Isnawa, as reported by Kompas, Friday (January 5, 2024).
Isnawa urged residents to remain vigilant even though the floods in several areas have subsided.
He continued, the DKI Jakarta BPBD has also deployed personnel to monitor waterlogging conditions in each area to coordinate with relevant agencies.
"There's the Water Resources Agency (SDA), the Public Works Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency conducting water pumping and ensuring that water channels are functioning properly. The target is for the waterlogging to recede quickly," said Isnawa.
