Earthquake Information December 14, 2023, Bayah 4.9 Magnitude, No Tsunami Potential

A 4.9 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Bayah. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was 39 km southwest of Bayah at sea, and this earthquake was felt and will be communicated to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website on December 14, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 07:27:18. It was located at a depth of 23.0 kilometers and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. The earthquake's coordinates were 7.26°S (South Latitude) and 106.13°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in the areas of Malingping, Malasari, Leuwiliang, Bayah, Kalapanunggal, and Ratu with intensities of III-IV, III-IV, III-IV, III, II-III, and II respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by some people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and glass windows vibrated.
