The price of BP-brand diesel fuel has increased to Rp18,380/liter starting November 2, 2022.
"We are committed to continuous innovation to always provide quality fuel for Indonesian vehicles. BP fuel prices may change at any time based on fluctuations in global crude oil prices," said BP management on its official website, Wednesday (2/11/2022).
A day earlier, Shell and Pertamina had already raised their diesel fuel prices. Here's a breakdown of the diesel fuel price increases for BP, Shell, and Pertamina at the beginning of November 2022 (prices for DKI Jakarta):
* BP Diesel: increased from Rp17,900 to Rp18,380
* Shell V-Power Diesel: increased from Rp18,450 to Rp18,840/liter
* Pertamina Dex: increased from Rp18,100 to Rp18,550/liter
* Pertamina Dexlite: increased from Rp17,800 to Rp18,000/liter
Before the diesel fuel price increase, global crude oil prices experienced a rise in October 2022. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated that this was influenced by OPEC+ policies and sanctions against Russia.
"Several factors influencing the increase in the price of major crude oil in the international market include market concerns about a shortage of global crude oil supply following the OPEC+ announcement regarding supply reduction," said the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in its press release, Wednesday (2/11/2022).
"Coupled with the planned imposition of sanctions on Russian oil, it is expected to tighten supply towards the end of the year," it added.
