According to the report from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Indonesia imported 6.91 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in 2024.
This import volume decreased by 0.6% compared to the previous year. However, when compared to a decade ago, Indonesia's LPG imports in 2024 are still considered high, as shown in the graph.
Indonesia's high LPG imports are influenced by its large consumption, while domestic production capacity is minimal.
Based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the volume of LPG consumption in Indonesia in 2024 reached 8.9 million tons.
Meanwhile, domestic LPG production in 2024 was only 1.96 million tons, equivalent to 22% of the consumption demand.
This trend of lower production than consumption has also consistently occurred for at least the last ten years.
