According to *[Katadata.co.id](https://katadata.co.id/berita/industri/669b2749ad335/mentan-sebut-industri-biofuel-telah-siap-dukung-program-b50-prabowo)*, the Ministry of Agriculture has stated that the vegetable oil-based fuel, or biofuel, industry is prepared to increase biodiesel production for domestic needs. This is to support the 50% biodiesel blend program, or B50, in diesel fuel, championed by the president-elect, Prabowo Subianto.
"The companies are now ready. We are preparing the companies from now on so that, as directed by President Joko Widodo and the president-elect [Prabowo Subianto], we can achieve B50 in the future," said Amran in Jakarta on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Amran stated that the government has prepared the biofuel industry to support the B50 program. This program is an initiative to increase the use of biofuels to 50% of total domestic diesel fuel consumption.
Amran did not elaborate on the locations and industrial areas prepared to support the program. He only confirmed that the industry is ready to produce biofuels for B50 needs.
Currently, Indonesia's biofuel production reaches 46 million tons per year, with approximately 26 million tons exported to the global market. Meanwhile, the country still imports about 5.3 million tons of diesel fuel annually.
According to him, the B50 program aims to reduce Indonesia's reliance on diesel fuel imports by replacing it with biofuel derived from crude palm oil (CPO). The hope is that the implementation of the B50 program will not only reduce reliance on diesel imports but also increase CPO prices in the international market.
