Industrial Customers Purchased the Most Domestic Gas in 2022

Based on a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), domestic gas sales volume reached 368,906.39 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) in 2022. This figure represents a 5.17% increase year-on-year (YoY).

By customer type, the majority of domestic gas was purchased by industrial customers, totaling 239,160 MMSCF in 2022, a 3.9% YoY increase.

Power plants were the second largest consumer, purchasing 101,418 MMSCF (up 8.6%), followed by commercial customers at 13,071 MMSCF (down 23%).

Household customers purchased 9,656 MMSCF throughout 2022, a significant 551.02% YoY surge from 2021.

The BPS notes that this aligns with the BPH Migas Performance Report, which indicates a 39.02% increase in the length of city gas pipelines (jargas) in 2022, reaching 2,402.99 km.

This expansion involved developing gas networks in 21 regencies/cities.

Finally, gas filling station (SPBG) customers purchased 5,602 MMSCF in 2022, a 35% decrease from 2021. According to the BPS, this indicates a decline in gas usage in the transportation sector.
