The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the number of Indonesian working residents (aged 15 and over) reached 135.3 million in August 2022. This figure is a decrease of 315,180 compared to February 2022.
In August 2022, the agricultural sector remained the largest employer, followed by the wholesale and retail trade sector, the manufacturing industry, accommodation services, and construction.
The electricity and gas supply sector employed the fewest workers, as shown in the graph.

Compared to February 2022, the number of workers in the agricultural sector in August 2022 decreased by 1.93 million.
Similarly, the workforce in the health and social services sector decreased by 150,590 people, and the information and communication sector decreased by 114,390 people.
The manufacturing industry, however, recorded an increase of 500,470 workers in August 2022 compared to February 2022.
Similarly, the workforce in the wholesale and retail trade sector increased by 393,340 people, and the corporate services sector increased by 297,500 people.
