Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows that the labor force participation rate (LFPR) reached 68.63% in 2022. This figure is up 0.83% from the previous survey period, which was 67.8% in 2021.
Men dominated the workforce in 2022, at 83.87%, while women constituted only 53.41%.
Mapping by highest educational attainment, university graduates dominated the 2022 labor force participation rate at 82.28%. This figure is actually down from the previous achievement of 82.67% in 2021.
This was followed by vocational high school (SMK) graduates with a percentage of 77.67%. This figure increased from 76.17% in 2021.

A close race occurred between elementary school (SD) and senior high school (SMA) graduates, with respective scores of 68.88% and 68.84% in 2022.
Both also experienced a significant percentage increase: SD at 67.18% in 2021 and SMA at 67.05% in 2021.
The lowest contributing graduates to the LFPR were junior high school (SMP) graduates, at 56.82% in 2022, down from the previous achievement of 57.39% in 2021.
Based on these educational levels, BPS assumes that participation in the labor market tends to increase with higher education.
"In 2022, the highest LFPR value was for university graduates at 82.28%, while the lowest LFPR value was for junior high school graduates at 56.82%," wrote BPS in its report titled *Decent Work Indicators in Indonesia 2022*.

* SD/below: 68.88%
* SMA: 68.84%
* SMP: 56.82%
