According to the *Indonesia Statistics* report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 1,819,830 million people were recorded as job seekers in Indonesia in 2023.
This number increased by 94.18% compared to the previous year, which was 937,176 thousand people.
In 2023, the highest number of job seekers was in West Java, with 542,150 people or 29.79% of the national total.
Next were East Java with 220,388 job seekers, Central Java with 218,013, and Banten with 125,510.
Other provinces with a significant number of job seekers at the national level include DKI Jakarta, South Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, and Lampung, as shown in the graph.
Meanwhile, West Papua had the fewest job seekers in 2023, with only 2,693 people.
It was followed by Papua and Gorontalo with 3,278 and 3,574 job seekers, respectively.
There were also four new provinces that were not yet recorded as having job seekers in 2023: Southwest Papua, South Papua, Central Papua, and Highland Papua.
