Shopee's Employee Count Increased Slightly by 1.1% in Q3 2021

Shopee's workforce reached 12,300 in the third quarter of 2021. Although it has consistently added employees year-on-year, iPrice reports that the increase in Shopee's employees at the end of 2021 was not significant. The recorded increase in Shopee's workforce was only 1.1% in the third quarter of 2021.

iPrice notes that Shopee's employee count is the highest among other e-commerce companies. In fact, it's almost three times the number of Tokopedia employees, which stands at 4,900.

Observing the trend, Shopee's employee count has increased every year. The number of Shopee employees was recorded at over 4,000 in the first quarter of 2020.

Then, the number of its employees increased by 27.5% to 5,100 in the second quarter of 2020. Shopee again recruited employees with a 37.3% increase to 7,000 in the third quarter of 2020.

At the end of last year, Shopee's employees increased by another 29.5% to 9,100 in the fourth quarter of 2020. In the first quarter of 2021, the number of Shopee employees reached 10,500. Then, the growth of employees at the e-commerce company slowed to only 15.8%, reaching 12,200 in the second quarter of 2021.
