The Governor of Riau Islands (Kepri), Ansar Ahmad, has set the 2024 Minimum County/City Wages (UMK) for his region.

The highest 2024 UMK in Riau Islands is in Batam City, at Rp3,769,082. The lowest is in Tanjungpinang City and Lingga Regency, both at Rp3,402,492.

Ansar stated that the 2024 UMK determination was made after the regents/mayors of Kepri submitted minimum wage recommendations, following recommendations from the Wage Councils in their respective regencies/cities.

"Based on those recommendations, the Riau Islands Provincial Wage Council held discussions to provide feedback, input, and recommendations, which were carried out at a provincial-level plenary meeting," said Ansar, as reported by Antara on Friday (1/12/2023).

Ansar continued, explaining that the calculation of the 2024 Kepri UMK refers to the formula in Government Regulation (PP) Number 51 of 2023, using statistical data released by the BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics) through the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker).

The data used includes the average per capita expenditure per month, the average number of household members, the average number of working household members, economic growth, and combined inflation from September 2022 to September 2023.

"All these indicators are measured according to regency/city," said Ansar.

Ansar said that the decision to adjust the 2024 Kepri UMK was made considering fairness, economic conditions, and labor developments in the region.

He also hopes that all stakeholders will heed, respect, and comply with these regulations.

"The minimum wage is only paid to workers who have worked for zero to one year. For workers who have worked for more than one year, wages must be adjusted according to the company's wage structure and scale," said Ansar.

The following is a complete list of the 2024 UMK in Riau Islands, ordered from highest to lowest:

* Batam City: Rp4,685,050 (increase of Rp184,610 or 4.1%)
* Bintan Regency: Rp3,950,950 (increase of Rp51,535 or 1.33%)
* Anambas Islands Regency: Rp3,835,605 (increase of Rp78,045 or 2.08%)
* Karimun Regency: Rp3,715,000 (increase of Rp122,981 or 3.42%)
* Natuna Regency: Rp3,406,575 (increase of Rp68,972 or 2.07%)
* Tanjungpinang City: Rp3,402,492 (increase of Rp123,297 or 3.76%)
* Lingga Regency: Rp3,402,492 (increase of Rp123,297 or 3.76%)
