According to a report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there were 147.67 million working residents in Indonesia in February 2026.

BPS also noted that in February 2026, as many as 59.42% of working residents were in the informal sector and 40.58% in the formal sector.

When viewed by their line of business, the majority of residents worked in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector (28.78%).

This was followed by the wholesale and retail trade sector (17.95%), industry (13.57%), and accommodation and food services (7.90%).
