There Were 359 Layoffs in Indonesia in Early 2026

According to data from the Ministry of Labor (Kemnaker), there were 359 workers in Indonesia who were subject to layoffs in January 2026.

Among all provinces in Indonesia, there are 25 provinces that reported layoff cases at the beginning of this year.

The most layoffs occurred in West Java and South Sumatra, with a total of 49 people each.

Here is a breakdown of the number of employees affected by layoffs per province in January 2026, sorted from the most to the least:

5. East Java: 34 people

12. South Sulawesi: 8 people
13. South Kalimantan: 6 people

19. Riau Islands: 2 people

It should be noted that this data may not reflect all layoff cases in Indonesia, as Kemnaker only records the number of layoff victims reported through the Employment Information and Service Application System and/or industrial relations courts.

Moreover, the data reported to Kemnaker does not include workers who were laid off due to resignation, retirement, permanent total disability, or death.
