According to a MarkPlus survey report, the majority of young people in Indonesia choose state-owned enterprises (SOEs) as their workplace. Of all the young people surveyed, 58% want to work in SOEs.

"When viewed based on employment status category, students and fresh graduates have a preference for working in SOEs. Meanwhile, first-jobbers choose local/national private companies," the report explains.

In this survey, 49.2% of Indonesian young people want to work in local/national private companies, and 43.9% chose government agencies/ministries. Only 30% chose multinational companies.

The survey also found that the Ministry of SOEs is the most sought-after workplace for young people, followed by Astra Honda Motor and Astra International.

This MarkPlus survey was conducted during June-July 2022. There were 1,150 respondents, with ages ranging from 21 to 25 years old. The respondents' backgrounds were quite diverse, ranging from students and fresh graduates to workers with less than two years of experience.

The survey was conducted using an online questionnaire distributed through MarkPlus' social media, email, and WhatsApp messages to contact numbers in the MarkPlus database.
