The number of workers in Bantul Regency has shown an upward trend over the last 14 years, continuing even after the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, BPS released data showing that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Bantul Regency reached 3.78% in 2023. This figure is down 0.19% compared to December 2022 (3.97%) and down 0.26% compared to December 2021.
The decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) is reflected in the number of working people and the labor force figures published by BPS this year. The labor force in Bantul Regency has decreased over the past three years. Historically, in 2021, it was recorded at 595,340 workers; in 2022, it increased to 626,280 workers; and in 2023, it was recorded at 602,580 workers.
Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (TPT) in this regency/city ranks 280th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (TPT) in 2023 was 4.3%.
The decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Bantul Regency is not directly related to the slump in economic growth in 2023. The economy in this region in 2023 was recorded at 5.06 percent, down from 5.2 percent in 2022.
