There were 168,000 foreign workers in Indonesia in 2023, the most coming from China.

Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), there were approximately 168,000 foreign workers (TKA) in Indonesia throughout 2023.

This number increased by 50.66% compared to 2022, which saw 111,000 foreign workers.

In 2023, the majority of TKAs originated from China, with 82,623 individuals, representing 49.18% of the total number of foreign workers last year.

Following China were TKAs from Japan (15,961 individuals, 9.49%) and South Korea (15,660 individuals, 9.31%).

Based on business type, most foreign workers were employed in the service sector (49.18%), the industrial sector (47.9%), and the agriculture and maritime sectors (2.8%).

More than half of the foreign workers held professional-level positions (53.46%), followed by consultants (21.45%), managers (18%), directors (6.47%), and commissioners (0.53%).
