How Many Chinese Foreign Workers Are in Indonesia?

The issue of the number of Chinese foreign workers (TKA) in Indonesia reaching millions often appears on social media. Although the number of TKAs from China working in Indonesia is indeed the highest, it does not reach millions.

Based on data from the Ministry of Manpower, the number of Chinese TKAs working in Indonesia was 42,820 as of June 2022. This number accounts for 44.34% of the total number of TKAs working in Indonesia, the largest compared to TKAs from other countries.

The next largest number of TKAs in Indonesia are from Japan, with 10,100 workers (10.99%). This is followed by South Korea with 9,260 workers (9.59%), India with 6,200 workers (6.42%), and the Philippines with 4,670 workers (4.84%).

Then there are Malaysia with 3,810 workers (3.94%), the United States with 2,120 workers (2.19%), Taiwan with 2,030 workers (2.1%), the United Kingdom with 1,850 workers (1.92%), Australia with 1,700 workers (1.77%), and other countries with 11,500 workers (11.91%).
