Province with the Most Higher Education Institutions: West Java Takes the Top Spot!

According to the *Indonesia Statistics* report, there were 3,115 higher education institutions spread throughout Indonesia in 2021.

West Java recorded the highest number of higher education institutions, namely 392, comprising 12 public and 380 private higher education institutions.

East Java ranked second with 338 higher education institutions, including 17 public and 321 private higher education institutions.

Jakarta ranked third with a total of 279 higher education institutions, comprising 4 public and 275 private higher education institutions.

Following these are Central Java with 256 higher education institutions, North Sumatra with 221, and South Sulawesi with 192 higher education institutions.

Banten, Yogyakarta, and South Sumatra each have 115, 109, and 104 higher education institutions, respectively. Meanwhile, West Sumatra has 98 higher education institutions.
