Most Parents Worry About Covid-19 Transmission in Schools

The government has implemented limited in-person learning in areas with a Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) level of 2-3. However, the majority of parents remain concerned about their children contracting the Covid-19 coronavirus while at school.

This is evident from the results of a Median National Survey (Median) on Thursday, September 9, 2021. According to the survey, 60.7% of parents are worried about coronavirus transmission at school.

24.3% of parents said they were not worried about coronavirus transmission at school. Meanwhile, 15% of parents stated they did not know.

To alleviate these concerns, 54% of parents believe all teachers should be vaccinated before in-person learning begins. 53% of parents think in-person learning can begin once children have been vaccinated.

Furthermore, 52% of parents believe in-person learning can commence when coronavirus cases are low. Meanwhile, the percentage of parents who want in-person learning to begin when the coronavirus pandemic ends and when adequate facilities are available is the same at 38%.

Median surveyed 1,000 respondents from August 19-26, 2021. The survey used a multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of approximately 3% and a 95% confidence level.
