According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in March 2025, the majority of Indonesia's population aged 15 years and above were graduates of senior high school/vocational high school/equivalent, accounting for 31.25%.

Furthermore, 22.48% were junior high school/equivalent graduates, and 23.9% were elementary school/equivalent graduates.

Meanwhile, the proportion of the population aged 15 years and above who had completed higher education was only 11%.

In urban areas, the proportion of the population aged 15 years and above who completed higher education reached 14.33%, while in rural areas it was only 6.03%.
