According to Chegg's Global Student Survey 2025, 4 out of 5 (80%) global university students use generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) to support their studies.

Gen AI is a type of AI that can generate text, images, or other media based on commands, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and DALL-E.

The highest proportion of students utilizing Gen AI in their studies was recorded in Indonesia, at 95%, exceeding the global average.

According to Chegg, these findings indicate a shift in how students seek academic assistance.

"Of those using Gen AI for academic support, more than half (57%) entered queries once a day or more often," Chegg stated in its report.

Chegg conducted this survey in collaboration with Yonder Consulting. The online survey was conducted from October 1-23, 2024, involving 11,706 respondents aged 18-21 from 15 countries. The number of respondents in each country ranged from 500 to 1,002.
