Average Years of Schooling in NTT up to Junior High School Grade 1

The average years of schooling (RLS) for residents aged 15 and over in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was 7.63 years in 2020. This RLS increased by 1.05% compared to the previous year, which was 7.55 years.

This RLS indicates that the average NTT resident attends school only up to the first grade of Junior High School (SMP). This RLS is below the national average RLS of 8.48 years in 2020.

Meanwhile, the expected years of schooling (HLS) in NTT was 13.18 years in 2020. This figure increased by 0.23% compared to 2019, which reached 13.15 years.

This signifies that every NTT resident aged 7 and over is expected to achieve 13 years of schooling or complete a Diploma 1 (D1) program. Unlike RLS, the HLS in NTT is already higher than the national average of 12.98 years.

Furthermore, the net enrollment rate (APM) at all education levels in NTT increased in 2020. Specifically, the APM at the Elementary School (SD) level increased from 96.16% to 96.44%.

The APM at the Junior High School (SMP) level in NTT increased from 69.19% to 71.8%. Meanwhile, the APM at the Senior High School (SMA) level in NTT increased from 53.68% to 60.09%.

School attendance rate (APS) at all age levels of the NTT population also increased in 2020. Specifically, the APS of the NTT population aged 7-12 years increased from 98.47% to 98.57%.

The APS of the NTT population aged 13-15 years increased from 95.11% to 95.25%. Meanwhile, the APS of the NTT population aged 16-18 years increased from 75.36% to 75.52%.
