Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows that millennials have completed various levels of education. However, the highest percentage (37% of total respondents) have completed senior high school (SMA) or equivalent.
The second highest percentage is junior high school graduates at 22.62%. Third, elementary school graduates at 21.83%.
Fourth, those with a Diploma IV or Bachelor's degree (S1) at 10.04%. Additionally, the number of those with less than a 9% completion rate.
Those born between 1981 and 1996, currently at least 27 years old, also include those who did not attend school, at 1.44%. This figure is higher than millennials who completed professional degrees and Master's/Doctoral degrees (S2/S3).
BPS explains that when comparing the number of millennial SMA/equivalent graduates to older generations like Baby Boomers (1946-1964) and Generation X (1965-1980), millennials have a higher percentage.
"The majority of the highest educational level completed by Baby Boomers and Generation X is elementary school or equivalent, while the highest educational level completed by millennials is senior high school or equivalent," BPS wrote in its report.
This data is taken from the long-form 2020 Population Census (SP 2020) involving 4.29 million households. This series of surveys was conducted in two stages.
