Civil Servant (PNS) salaries have officially increased after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) signed Government Regulation (PP) Number 15 of 2019 concerning the Eighteenth Amendment to Government Regulation Number 7 of 1977 concerning Civil Servant Salary Regulations on March 13, 2019. This PP came into effect on the date of its enactment, as stated in Article 5 of Presidential Regulation Number 16 of 2019, which was enacted by the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna H. Laoly, on March 13, 2019.
The average increase in PNS salaries is 5% and will be backdated to January 2019. Based on the appendix in PP Number 15 of 2019, the salary for PNS Grade 1a with 0 years of service (lowest) increased to Rp 1,560,800/month from the previous Rp 1,486,500. For Grade 2a with 0 years of service (lowest), it increased to Rp 2,022,200/month from the previous amount. For Grade 3a with 0 years of service (lowest), it increased to Rp 2,579,400/month from the previous amount, and for Grade 4a with 0 years of service (lowest), it increased to Rp 3,044,300/month.
With this increase, the lowest PNS salary (Grade 1a with 0 years of service) is Rp 1,560,800, and the highest (Grade IVe with 32 years of service) is Rp 5,901,200.
