The Indonesian government disbursed Rp 3.65 trillion in healthcare worker incentives by the end of June 2021.

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) recorded that the realization of incentive payments for central healthcare workers reached Rp 2.65 trillion by June 30, 2021. This amount is equivalent to 69.8% of the total budget of Rp 3.79 trillion. The incentives have been paid to 323,486 healthcare workers in 6,198 healthcare facilities.

The Ministry of Finance has also paid Rp 1.30 trillion in arrears of healthcare worker incentives from 2020. This amount is equivalent to 88.4% of the total arrears of healthcare worker incentives, which reached Rp 1.48 trillion.

The realization of death benefit payments for healthcare workers has reached Rp 4.98 billion for 166 deceased healthcare workers. This is equivalent to 99.6% of the total budget allocation of Rp 50 billion.

Meanwhile, the provision of incentives for healthcare workers in the regions has only reached Rp 650 billion. However, the budget prepared in the Regional Budget through general allocation funds or revenue sharing funds (DAU/DBH) reached Rp 8.15 trillion.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance will reallocate the budget for handling the corona virus and national economic recovery, amounting to Rp 699.43 trillion. One of the reallocations is increasing the health budget by 7.60%, from Rp 172.84 trillion to Rp 185.98 trillion.

The increase in the health budget aims, among other things, to encourage the payment of healthcare worker incentives. In addition, the increased budget will support vaccination, tracing and testing, treatment, medication, self-isolation, health tax incentives, facilities and infrastructure, and medical equipment.
