Global Firepower 2019: Indonesia's Active Military Personnel Ranked 12th in the World

Personnel strength is a key element of a nation's military might and a significant indicator in the Global Firepower (GFP) 2019 survey. According to GFP data, Indonesia's active military personnel (combat-ready) numbered 400,000, representing 0.2% of the total population.

This figure ranks 12th, below Myanmar, as shown in the graph below. Furthermore, Indonesia also maintains a military reserve of approximately 400,000, bringing the total national military personnel strength to around 800,000.

China boasts the largest active military personnel, with 2.18 million, and a reserve of 510,000. India ranks second, with 1.36 million active personnel and a reserve of 2.1 million. The United States (US), with 1.28 million active military personnel, holds the third position, and an additional reserve of 860,000.

For reference, the Global Firepower 2019 survey ranked Indonesia's military power index (PwrIndx) at 0.2804, placing it 16th out of 137 countries.
