The average expenditure of residents in Central Jakarta for instant noodles in 2023 was Rp3,615.26 per capita per week. This figure surged compared to the previous year's expenditure of Rp3,114.14 per capita per week.

Average per capita expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, including purchases, gifts, and self-produced goods, divided by the number of household members. Household consumption is categorized into food and non-food consumption, regardless of the origin of goods, and is limited to household needs only, excluding consumption/expenditure for business purposes or given to others.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food consumption is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and non-food) by the total population.

According to BPS, this increase in expenditure was driven by the monthly (month-to-month) inflation rate in this region, which reached 5.1%. Meanwhile, economic growth in 2023 was recorded at 5.1%.

The four largest expenditure items for other food groups in Central Jakarta, in descending order, are instant noodles at Rp3,615.26 per capita per week, crackers at Rp569.31 per capita per week, other items at Rp138.67 per capita per week, and the lowest expenditure on baby porridge at Rp105.41 per capita per week.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) publication, the average per capita expenditure in this city reached Rp2.88 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 38.95% compared to March 2022, which was Rp2.07 million per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest expenditure on instant noodles was in Puncak Jaya Regency and the lowest in Tapanuli Tengah Regency. Central Jakarta's instant noodle expenditure ranks 54th. Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure on instant noodles is Rp257.5 per capita per week.
