West Java Inflation Rises to 0.27% in November 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that West Java's inflation was 0.27% (month-to-month/m-to-m) in November 2021. West Java's inflation increased by 0.2 percentage points from October 2021, which was 0.07%.

Compared to the same period last year, West Java's inflation decreased by 0.02 percentage points. In November 2020, West Java experienced inflation of 0.29%.

This year, November's inflation in West Java was the second highest, after May, which recorded the highest inflation at 0.38%. Meanwhile, West Java experienced deflation twice, in June (0.23%) and September (0.11%).

West Java's inflation in November 2021 occurred across almost all expenditure groups. The expenditure group with the highest inflation was food, beverages, and tobacco at 0.69%.

The housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group recorded the lowest inflation at 0.03%. Meanwhile, the information, communication and financial services group, and the education group experienced no change in the price index in November 2021.

The BPS reported that the increase or decrease in the prices of goods and services in West Java during November 2021 contributed significantly to inflation or deflation. Commodities that experienced price increases and contributed significantly to inflation include chicken eggs, cooking oil, red chilies, oily cookies, chicken meat, cars, gold jewelry, porridge, kretek filter cigarettes, ready-to-drink fruit juice, floor cleaner, powdered/liquid detergent, squid, and children's clothing sets.

Meanwhile, commodities that experienced price decreases and contributed significantly to deflation include red onions, tomatoes, oranges, kangkung (water spinach), chili peppers, grapes, dragon fruit, papaya, melon, watermelon, pears, sweet corn, and packaged liquid milk.
