North Sulawesi, Province with Highest Monthly Inflation in March 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's monthly inflation rate reached 0.52% (month-to-month/mtm) in March 2024.

This figure is higher than February 2024, which recorded an inflation rate of 0.37% (mtm).

BPS also noted that out of Indonesia's 38 provinces, 34 experienced monthly inflation in March 2024.

The highest monthly inflation occurred in North Sulawesi, at 1.07% (mtm). This was followed by Central Papua at 1.01% (mtm), and Banten at 0.98% (mtm).

Meanwhile, four provinces experienced monthly deflation in March 2024: Maluku with a deflation rate of 0.46% (mtm), Papua at 0.19% (mtm), South Papua at 0.17% (mtm), and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) at 0.14% (mtm).

The following is a list of the 10 provinces with the highest monthly inflation rates nationally in March 2024:

2. Central Papua: 1.01% (mtm)
3. Banten: 0.98% (mtm)
4. Bali: 0.93% (mtm)
5. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB): 0.87% (mtm)
6. Gorontalo: 0.81% (mtm)
7. North Sumatra: 0.72% (mtm)
8. Riau: 0.72% (mtm)
9. Central Kalimantan: 0.66% (mtm)
10. West Sumatra: 0.64% (mtm)

The largest contributors to monthly inflation in March 2024 came from the food, beverages, and tobacco group, with an inflation rate of 1.42% (mtm).

This was followed by the personal care and other services group with an inflation rate of 0.70% (mtm), food and beverage services/restaurants at 0.33% (mtm), and clothing and footwear at 0.22% (mtm).
