Low Tuck Kwong remains on the list of Indonesia's richest people according to *Forbes Real Time Billionaire* as of May 10, 2023. The founder and owner of Bayan Resources recently surpassed the Hartono brothers, who had long held the top spot.
Low Tuck Kwong's net worth is recorded at US$29 billion, equivalent to Rp427.22 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp14,732 per US dollar). The coal tycoon's wealth increased due to the soaring coal prices in mid-2022.
This achievement displaced Budi Hartono and Michael Hartono, who are now ranked second and third, respectively. Budi's net worth is recorded at US$26.6 billion, while Michael's is US$25.4 billion.
Meanwhile, a new face in the top 10 richest Indonesians is Lim Hariyanto Wijaya Sarwono. The 94-year-old tycoon boasts a net worth of US$5.3 billion.
Lim Hariyanto rose to become the sixth richest person in Indonesia from his previous ranking of 36th at the end of 2022. His wealth surged approximately 381.81% from US$1.1 billion at the end of last year.
Lim is a palm oil plantation entrepreneur of Bumitama Agri, a company listed on the Singapore Exchange. Together with his Chinese partner, he formed the Harita group, a nickel mining company in Halmahera, North Maluku.
Another newcomer is Dewi Kam, ranked eighth on the list of Indonesia's richest with a net worth of US$4.7 billion. Most of her wealth comes from minority shares in Bayan Resources.
