Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that in October 2022, Indonesia experienced annual inflation of 5.71% (year-on-year/yoy) with a consumer price index (CPI) of 112.75.
The annual inflation rate in October 2022 decreased slightly compared to the previous month, as shown in the graph.
According to BPS, this was influenced by the decrease in the price of Pertamax fuel by 4.14% at the beginning of October 2022, and government intervention in controlling inflation through supply control, transportation subsidies, and market operations.
In October 2022, the highest annual inflation occurred in Tanjung Selor, at 9.11% (yoy) with a CPI of 112.73. The lowest inflation occurred in Ternate, at 3.32% (yoy) with a CPI of 110.75.
Annual inflation also occurred in almost all expenditure groups. Details are as follows: food, beverages, and tobacco experienced inflation of 6.76% (yoy); clothing and footwear 1.5% (yoy); and housing, water, electricity, and household fuel 3.3% (yoy).
Furthermore, the group of household equipment, tools and routine maintenance experienced inflation of 5.08% (yoy); health 2.7% (yoy); transportation 16.03% (yoy); recreation, sports, and culture 2.85% (yoy); education 2.74% (yoy); and the food and beverage/restaurant provision group 5.41% (yoy).
Meanwhile, in October 2022, the information, communication, and financial services expenditure group experienced annual deflation of 0.42% (yoy).
BPS also recorded annual inflation for the core component at 3.31% (yoy) in October 2022, the government-administered component at 13.28% (yoy), and the volatile component at 7.19% (yoy).
Furthermore, annual inflation for energy commodities reached 16.88% (yoy) and food commodities 7.04% (yoy).
