According to a report from the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), Indonesia's tax revenue reached Rp342.88 trillion as of March 15, 2024. This figure is equivalent to 17.24% of the 2024 State Budget (APBN) target.
Tax revenue realization in the middle of this month decreased by 3.7% year-on-year (yoy).
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani stated that non-oil and gas income tax (PPh) revenue was recorded at Rp203.92 trillion, equivalent to 19.18% of the target.
Furthermore, the realization of Value Added Tax (PPN) and Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPnBM) reached Rp121.92 trillion, or 15.03% of the target.
The realization of Land and Building Tax (PBB) and other taxes was recorded at Rp2.56 trillion, or 6.79% of the target. Meanwhile, the realization of revenue from oil and gas income tax (PPh migas) was recorded at Rp14.48 trillion, equivalent to 18.95% of the target.
“Our tax revenue is experiencing some pressure due to declining commodity prices since last year, resulting in companies requesting refunds, thus putting pressure on our net refunds. However, in terms of the gross amount, before deducting refunds, we are still growing at 5.7%,” said Sri Mulyani in an online press conference on the Kemenkeu YouTube account, Monday (March 25, 2024).
According to Sri Mulyani, this is evident in the decline in domestic PPN and oil and gas PPh. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas PPh continues to grow positively, supported by national economic activity.
Overall, state revenue was recorded at Rp493.2 trillion, equivalent to 17.6% of this year's revenue target of Rp2,802.3 trillion. This achievement contracted by 5.4% year-on-year (yoy).
Sri Mulyani stated that this contraction occurred because state revenue grew very high in 2021 and 2022.
"We know that (growth) will undergo a correction. So, state revenue growth is negative 5.4% (as of March 15, 2024)," said Sri Mulyani.
Meanwhile, state expenditure realization as of March 15, 2024, reached Rp470.3 trillion, equivalent to 14.1% of this year's budget ceiling of Rp3,325.1 trillion.
Unlike revenue, which was corrected, state expenditure realization until mid-March 2024 actually swelled by 18.1% (yoy).
With higher revenue realization compared to state expenditure, the APBN recorded a surplus of Rp22.8 trillion as of March 15, 2024.
